Corneal Diseases

The cornea is the transparent, clear front part of the eye through which light enters the eye.

This 'little window is made up of several layers: the epithelium, Bownan's layer, the stroma, Descemet's membrane, and the endothelium. Whenever the cornea is not completely clear, or when its form is irregular, the image that comes through this little window into the eye will also not be clear or correctly formed.

Whenever we use lasers on the eye in order to see better without glasses, for example using LASIK or PRK, it is the cornea that the laser is being used on.
